Traditionally, standard roses are those that have been grafted on to a briar cane cut and graded at a particular length. They are grown on a single stem, tend to reach around 3ft in height and feature large fragrant blooms that seem to ‘bush’ at the top of the stem.

The sheer height of standard roses means that they need appropriate support if they are to thrive. We suggest that you use a robust support cane or metal stake and secure with a minimum of three plant ties. Standard roses must also be properly pruned to prevent the head from growing too large and heavy.
